Championship Form Table

Every Championship team ranked by form, scored out of 10 over their last ten matches. Unlike a standard W/D/L form guide, this one weights each result by how strong the opponent was, so beating the leaders counts for far more than beating the bottom club. West Bromwich Albion lead it on 9.2, with Preston North End bottom on 2.5.

Scored out of 10. Results 60%, goals 40%, over ten matches, each weighted by the opponent's league position. How the Form Score works.

    Frequently asked

How is the Championship form table calculated?
Results count for 60% and goals for 40%, over each team's last ten matches, with a decay so recent games matter more. Crucially, every result is weighted by the opponent's league position: beating the leaders is worth multiples of beating the bottom club, and a 5-0 scores above a 1-0. The output is a single score out of 10.
Why does this differ from the standard form guide?
A normal form guide shows the last five results as W/D/L and treats them all alike, so a team that beat the bottom three looks identical to one that beat the top three. That flatters teams with an easy run and punishes teams who have played the leaders. Weighting by opponent is the whole point of this table, and it is why a side can sit high here while its recent letters look ordinary.
    How often is it updated?
It rebuilds with the site, which happens twice a day on the back of the prediction run, so it reflects the most recent completed matches rather than a weekly snapshot.
    Is form actually predictive?
Opponent-adjusted form is, which is why it survived. When the model was fitted, 75 candidate inputs were tested and only two were kept: opponent-adjusted attack and defence strength over the last ten matches. Raw form, venue form, head-to-head records and rest days were all tested and dropped for adding nothing on top.
